ABOUT US

                                                ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Honoured and proud to communicate all through this site. As a head of this great organisation, I am proud to be associated with this 110 years old institution. Government Ayurvedic Medical College is not merely an educational institution but a centre of excellence in the field of Ayurveda.
The college has most experienced enthusiastic faculty. Most of the senior faculty members have more than 20 years of teaching experienceto their credit. All other teachers are extremely enthusiastic, all ready to shoulder any kind of regularities.
The student friendly atmosphere of the college is instrumental in developing a loyal student fraternity. This has inspired students to achieve high goals academically and in practice of Ayurveda. This is evident from the result in the examinations. It has also helped in creating ragging free environment in the college. When I talk to freshers (which I usually do, after a week prior to admission), they always express enthusiasm and happiness about ragging free atmosphere. Incidentally one of our students is a university hockey player, another selected for archery. Two students were selected for Republic day parade. College which is attached with hospital is situated in picturesque heritage building, a best library with 17440 books including some of the classics. Well laid-out classrooms, laboratories and workrooms create solemn atmosphere for learning. Yes, we need to improve the infrastructure for which we are always trying our best.
Our hospital is one of the important health landmark in the city. In fact the building is declared as heritage building and is right in the centre of the city. With 128+40 (GAMC Mysore Hospital & Govt Panchakarma Hitech Hospital) beds, it caters the need of the citizens of Mysore and villages around Mysore. Free supply of medicines and diet makes it more attractive. The hospital staff and physicians along with para medical workers work hard to be in the forefront of the service through Ayurveda.
The PG dept in four subjects – namely Kayachikitsa, Samhita Sidhanta ,Swasthavrutta and Panchakarma are also part of the academic excellence of the institution and engaged in researches related to various diseases such as dysentery, obesity, skin diseases, neuromuscular diseases, jaundice, lifestyle disorders and neurological disorders. It is a boon to the society at large. As a matter of fact, Kayachikitsa department is considered as centre of excellence all over the country. The Govt of Indis has sanctioned Rs. 1.5 crore for the construction of a PG block.
The Govt Ayurvedic Medical College Mysore is our institution and our pride. Our motto is to teach Ayurveda and learn Ayurveda to serve the community.

MYSORE PALACE

The Mysore Palace is a historical palace and the royal residence at mysore in the Indian State of Karnataka. It is the official residence of the Wadoyar dynasty and the seat of the Kingdom of Mysore. The palace is in the centre of Mysore, and faces the Chamundi hills eastward. Mysore is commonly described as the 'City of Palaces', and there are seven palaces including this one; however, 'Mysore Palace' refers specifically to this one within the Old fort

CHAMUNDI HILLS

The Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple located on the top of Chamundi Hills about 13 km from the palace city of Mysore in the state of Karnataka in India

The original shrine is thought to have been built in the 12th century by Hoysala rulers while its tower was probably built by the Vijayanagar rulers of the 17th century. In 1659, a flight of one thousand steps was built leading up to the 3000-foot summit of the hill. The Chamundeshwari Temple is considered as a Shakti Peeta and one among the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas. It is known as Krouncha Pitha as the region was known in Puranic times as Krouncha Puri. It is said that the hair of Sati Devi fell here.
